INTRODUCING … HOLLIDAY ST QUARTET / MIDNIGHT BONFIRES / PETE YELDING

Our new INTRODUCING gigs will be returning with some of Brums finest acts on the scene. This is a chance to see what the Birmingham music scene has to offer as well as creating a top night of entertainment at the best music venue in Moseley Village!

3 acts, 3 pounds in … for those of you who struggle with maths that's a squid per band!

There is one more slot left for the evening so if you would like to play on this night or at some point in the future email: rachel@hareandhoundskingsheath.co.uk

We will also have some special drinks deals for the night because let's face it … the price of booze is pretty ridiculous … anyway here's some nice things to read about our acts and if you really need to know, our special deals are listed at the bottom:

Holliday St Quartet – Based in Birmingham, Holliday St Quartet mix their original Americana/Blues/Country influenced material with arrangements of old songs of the Deep South. Since meeting in 2008, Hannah Fathers (Vocals and Guitar), James Wilson-Rhead (Piano/Synth), Alex Phillips (Double Bass) and Lydia Glanville (Drum Kit), have been hitting clubs and festivals playing together in jazz bands, massive folk ensembles and Country groups. Now they bring to the stage energetic arrangements of sultry, hard-edged Jazz and Blues standards and originals.

The Midnight Bonfires are a Birmingham based band that started life around 12 months ago, although most members of the band had been playing together for years before hand. The band play a different variety of music that is quite hard to compare to any other artist. This has most likely come down to the incredibly different music tastes of each of the band members.Their most common influences range from Bob Dylan to The Strokes but can go as far as Daft Punk.

During 2012 the Midnight Bonfires hope to release their first EP after spending some time recording at the start of the year. They are also planning many more gigs for the near future and all details will be listed on the Facebook and Twitter pages.

Pete Yelding – It is a combination of his Background in songwriting and improvisation, his study of Composition and North Indian classical music (on sitar), a love for West African music, topped off with a keen interest in contemporary art, alternative comedy and theatre that informs Pete Yelding's work. His music has been performed around the UK as well as in Germany and Holland. He often performs his work himself – both alone and with collaborators/ensembles. Notable ensembles that have performed his pieces include: Orkest De Ereprijs; Ed Bennett's Decibel Ensemble; the Coull string quartet, and Chroma ensemble. He has also worked to choreography; with circus clowns; and to improvised theatre.
