JAH VOICE x HYTAL BOSRAH x JAH HAMMA... THE BIRMINGHAM TAKEOVERKONTAKT Presents.....
... JAH VOICE x HYTAL BOSRAH x JAH HAMMA
Jah Voice Sound System and crew hails from Wolverhampton in the UK. Hi-tek and modern, Jah Voice is a definitive Sub-bass Roots Sound. Established in 2002 Jah Voice introduced us to Father Johno and son Gavin Levi, Wooligan and Ras Tread Having quickly established itself as a sound with not only a distinctive bass rumbling, but also a quality matched by but only a few. In a short space of under 3 years, Jah Voice has gone from strength to strength culminating in an invite to the Univeristy of Dub alongside With an ever growing reputation and a buring desire to spread love, Jah Voice is here and will strive to develope and grow with passion.
We started playing music at the age of 15 years, most of the members were related, we played locally in and around Birmingham, places like Claremont Road in Sparkbrook, the name of the sound at that time was Hytal. We then joined forces with another sound called Crystal who lived in the same area as ourselves, the new name was now Hytal Crystal sound system. We played at a lot of the midnight dances at The Locarno night club in Birmingham City centre, and played abroad in places like Germany, France, and Belgium, those days it was more Soul, Calypso and reggae. The music we started playing as Hytal was Roots which for some reason had vanished. some of the members went on to be radio DJ and moved away from the sound to further their career what they are doing now only Jah knows. We went into the bashment, R&B, Hip hop, and Soul music, infact we played everything there was to play, but i did miss my Roots music no one seemed to play it any more. One day I came across an old friend called Errol (king Earthquake Sound system) who took me and some of my cousins to a Roots bash in London what I heard was music to my ears, my cousin had a sound too so we decided to re - invent the sound by joining forces and calling it Hytal after my sound and Bosrah after his sound (HYTAL BOSRAH) playing roots music. A lot of money was spent and we now have a large sound system, we also produce our own music out of our own studio,
Jah Hamma was around in the late 70's and early 80's. In those days, sounds built and painted their own speaker boxes. This determined their own identity along with sound quality. In these times, there are a lot of 'shop' built boxes. The sound has now been rebuilt and ready to play roots and culture for the I's. In 2004,Dan I (the son of 'P'an original member), with the help and guidance of his father, started building the sound from scratch. excluding records. Which took dedication and a lot of hard work. The I's listened and watched sound systems on tapes, videos, cd's etc and went to dances, to educate, encourage and uplift. About 18 months ago, I&I met in a dance and they told me, about the works and intentions. 'P' told me that they decided to call the sound Jah Hamma again and if I was interested... Now, here I am, the third member of the sound 'Strugglin' Man' So now I&I will give thanks and praise, through Jah Works,Sound and Power. JAH JAH BLESS
