THE PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND

The Phenomenal Handclap Band is a tight-knit aggregation of musicians and artists from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Together they have crafted a sound that is equal parts anthemic, dancefloor-oriented and orchestral, borrowing elements from progressive rock, disco, electro, and psychedelia.

Live, The Phenomenal Handclap Band is distilled to an eight-member powerhouse, an eye-popping spectacle that overwhelms the senses, with their shows more akin to a spiritual church revival than an actual rock show. After taking their genre-spanning dance party on the road with the one and only Bryan Ferry, the group is also preparing the release of the follow-up to their acclaimed, self-titled debut album.

'Form & Control' finds the band once again deftly mixing and matching seemingly disparate musical genres, with a musical palette that now includes prog-pop, new wave and modern leftfield dance.

"Musically diverse, incredibly melodic and dance-floor ready. It's the kind of album that gives cookie-cutter pop the trashing it deserves." – New York Post

"The PHB are astronauts of progressive soul, moored at the stellar point where rock, funk and psychedelia bloom into cosmic-disco amazingness." - Guardian UK

SAM REDMORE (FREESTYLE)

Sam Redmore is the driving force behind celebrated Birmingham club night Freestyle, which takes place every Friday at the Bull's Head in Moseley. A Leftfoot resident for the last four years, his sets are based around the musical ethos that anything goes, so long as it's got soul – this can include hip hop, funk, reggae, afrobeat and soul right through to disco, house, latin and more. Equally well schooled at warming up for the big guns as he is taking centre stage himself, Sam has in recent times supported the likes of DJ Cash Money, Norman Jay, Youngblood Brass Band, Odyssey, Roy Ayers, Crazy P, Breakestra and Omar amongst many, many others. His production work and edits have in the last year received support from Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, Quantic and more.
