The Boys are back for there first set of the Year at HC, if you missed them live at The Hare and Hounds on Friday with Andrew Weatherall be sure to catch them here this week! After releasing their debut EP on Tirk Records (Architeq, Greg Wilson, Idjut Boys), Free School have established themselves as eclectic staples on the Birmingham DJing scene. There next EP 'Unravelling After The Lottery' is out on Jan 16th on Tirk backed with a Mark E remix. Resident DJs at Happy Cycling (Bull's Head), the This Is Tmrw clubnight (various) and Roasts N' Records (The Victoria), Free School have also DJ'd at the launch of Mark E's 'Stonebreaker' album (Ghostly International), the launch of the Out Of Bounds label as well as playing at gigs by the likes of Neon Indian, Errors and Victories At Sea. Expect chillwave, pure disco, space disco, stuff off the Soul Jazz Records and Warp labels and maybe, just maybe...some BOOGIE. Happy Cycling is the free weekly Thursday event, offering a wide spectrum of musical genres all perfectly suited to the bar lounge culture. Dedicated to the bonus track on Boards Of Canada's First and (in my opinion) best Album "music has a right to children". The Night itself encompasses all things Downtempo and Electronica. Set at the newly refurbished Bullshead in the heart of Moseley, Happy cycling is perfect for after work lounging or an early start to the weekend ahead. Local artist Posh One brings the newest sounds from the world of downtempo and chillout, whilst regular guest Djs from in and around Birmingham give us their take on chillout music.
